downtown Toronto. It is wise to call or e-mail the Bureau to confirm, in case of the occasional cancellation or time-change.
Other recent activities and/or projects still in the works include (in no particular order): The Festival of Brigid (see report on page 4), involvement with Toronto's Anarchist Free School, the Recordist silent film cut-up and improv music event, the Virtual Bureau of Recordism, W.A. Davison soundwork for American performance artist Linda Montano, the U.R.G. website, Recordist filmwork included in Neoist film show (see "A Minor Correction..." below), networking and recruitment research, and the usual investigations of various Bureau departments.
The Bureau would like to welcome several new additions to its network.
Distinguished Uruguayan visual poet, performance and mail artist Clemente Padin has recently struck up an interesting correspondence with us, mostly in regards to the publishing of W.A.Davison's Para-Gardist Picto-Manifesto in the Fall '98 issue of Rampike magazine. There are many websites where you can see examples of Clemente's work and other information about him. Contact us for a list of URLs or just do a search for Clemente Padin.
Multi-media artist and author Steve Venright, director of Torpor Vigil Industries, is one of the few artists we've met locally whose work immediately qualifies him for one of those funny little imaginary membership cards we (so very rarely!) sometimes bestow on people. But when will he realize that life is meaningless (or is that meaningful?) without continual devotion to Recordism? We must be patient. We must also be patient in awaiting the release of his new book Spiral Agitator, soon to be released from Coach House Books.
Anarchist zinester and writer of Impossibilist fiction, Jim Munroe has been invaluable in spreading the word locally about the Bureau and about our weekly meetings. Haven't had the chance to read it yet but we have been hearing good things about his latest book Flyboy Action Figure Comes With Gasmask, new from HarperFlamingo. Find out more at Jim's website www.yip.org/~jim
Perhaps it's a bit premature but we're quite excited to finally be making some contact with the International Surrealist Network. Last month we made a first tentative contact via an e-mail message to Wisconsin Surrealist J. Karl Bogartte. Mr. Bogartte is a founding member of the Wisconsin Surrealist Group and maintains a website which offers, not only an intriguing look into his own art and ideas, but also one of the most comprehensive listings of current Surrealist activity on the internet. It is available at http://www.execpc.com/~bogartte
Thanks for joining us again! We apologize for the delay in getting this issue out but, due to circumstances of great stupidity and miserablism,

A Minor Correction To Neoist History (?!) of the Fairly Recent Past
On the 29th and 30th of January 1999, the film "Origami Meat Play" was screened as part of "Archeologie Du Neoisme", a retrospective of Neoist filmwork held in Quebec City. We would like to state here that the inclusion of "Origami Meat Play" (which occurred with the foreknowledge and consent of the filmmaker), a Recordist work that clearly has nothing to do with Neoism, in the aforementioned Neoist film retrospective, and the use of imagery from "Origami Meat Play" as the sole graphic representation of Neoist film in the event's publicity campaign (which occurred without the foreknowledge and consent of the filmmaker) in no way identifies "Origami Meat Play" as a Neoist film. Well...not exclusively at least. Thankyou.
